Courvoisier Cels - Queen's Sinister Animals

Snow White Crow and Skull Courvoisier Production Cel, 1937. Scene of the Queen's pet crow, reacting in horror to the Old Hag with her poisoned apple. Image area measures approximately 10.25" x 9", overall size 18" x 17.25".





Vultures Production Cel and Courvoisier Background, 1938. Cel art featuring the vultures is among the toughest to find since they appear only briefly in the film. Courvoisier woodgrain background. The birds are approximately 3" x 4" within an image area of 6" x 6"; Frame 13.25" x 13.25".

  1. The crow certainly is not at his most sinister there, but the vultures make up for it! **Not** something I want to see while weak and vulnerable.

  2. I love the dry brush effects on the raven... I wonder if that was added when the cel was sold or if that effect was actually used during the filming of the movie.

    1. I don't think the Courvoisier folks would have added any paint to the cel itself when putting this setup together with the background. I imagine that was done by the original ink & paint ladies.
