Picturegoer Magazine - December 25, 1937

The December 25, 1937 edition of the British fan magazine, Picturegoer, was published just four days after the world premiere of Snow White. It includes a two-page spread on the Secrets of Disney's Million-dollar Fairy-Tale.

Included with the article are several photos of modeled setups with the characters. Other than referring to them as "reconstructed scenes from the film," there's no mention of who created these models or where they were exhibited. Could they possibly have been used as window displays at London's Selfridges department store, like those seen years later in 1980?

Special thanks to Greg Philip of A Lost Film for supplying the image scans.

  1. Wow, that is strange that they wouldn't tell readers where those scenes were going to be displayed. That one caption even states "....reconstructed scenes from the picture which YOU WILL be seeing early in the New Year." Where??? And I wonder what happened to those figures when they were done being displayed? Do you think any of them managed to survive?

Merry Christmas to you and yours, SWA!!!

    1. It is possible that some collector had the foresight to save the figures, but I've never come across any news of them before this article. It's probably more likely that they are lost to us folks all these years later

Tokyo, you have a wonderful holiday and may your new year be bountiful and fulfilling.

  2. They look a lot like the 3D figures from the Snow White Magic Mirror Book. Possibly from the same source.

    Happy Holidays to all!
