Turkish Snow White Premiere Program

A few years ago, blogger Kaya Özkaracalar posted this cover to a Pamuk Prenses ve Yedi Cüce theater program from the movie's 1938 premiere in Turkey. At the time, this 12-page booklet was up for auction at Pera Mezat.

Snow White opened on December 21, 1938 at the Taksim and Sümer cinemas, located in central Istanbul. The film prints were dubbed in French. We can see on the cover of the program, the text is in both Turkish and French. The book was printed by EMEL Basimevi--İstanbul.

In another post from the same Disneyville site, we learn more about the Snow White screenings in Turkey. This movie ad from the December 16th, 1938 edition of the Turkish newspaper, Cumhuriyet, promotes the same December 21st premieres at the Taksim and Sümer.

From Özkaracalar's blog post:
On January 11th, 1939, Pamuk Prenses ve Yedi Cüce began to be screened in the Ferah cinema in the Şehzadebaşı district of the 'old city' region of Istanbul. On February 1st, it was released in the Tayyare cinema in İzmir. In November, it re-appeared in Istanbul, this time in the Akın cinema in the central Pangaltı district. There were further screenings in Istanbul in 1940 and 1941.
