1964 UK Costumed Character Appearances - Press Photos

In an earlier Archive entry, we saw costumed Snow White characters in a 1964 edition of the British trade newspaper, Kinematograph Weekly. The photos were part of the promotional campaign for the re-issue of the film that year to UK theatres. Disney would have invited the press to cover the characters on 'walkabout' around London, and the pictures then could be used in newspapers and magazines.

The 8 x 10 photos below are two out of many that were been taken by United Press International for offering to publications who couldn't cover the promotion. Each has a text description printed on the back. They're dated December 4th, 1964 and are marked "United Press International Photo."

The envelope in which these two photos were kept is marked "'Picture Library", and after the loan, they probably had to be returned to the United Press archive.

1975 Cheerios "Glass Pals" Decals

Walt Disney Glass Pals, a series of six decals from 1975, available inside specially-marked boxes of Cheerios. Manufactured by Pro/Mark Inc. Chicago. The collection included Snow White with Dopey, Donald Duck, Jiminy Cricket, Mickey Mouse, Robin Hood, and Bambi with Thumper and Flower. Each measures approximately 1.75" x 2.5".

The decals could be placed on glasses or other smooth surfaces and were said to be dishwasher safe.

A Cheerios promotional tie-in appeared in the 1975 US Snow White pressbook (p.18). Twenty five million packages were produced. The mock-up box shown in the book, however, differs from the actual one.
